Summary:


Mr. Sir had a swollen face the next time Stanley saw him. It had clearly come from the warden’s powerful spikey smack. Hattie parker Cursed Sam and Mary Lou.  A sheriff tried to kiss Katherine. Stanley is really good friends with Zero. Armpit accused Stanley for being Racist. Stanley had kindly been teaching Zero how to spell. Stanley found out that Zero’s real name is Hector ZERO"ni, which is probably where Zero as a nickname came from. “ZERO”ni. Kate a new character was added into the story but was killed by a yellow lizard… She died laughing.

Connection:The 
end of  chapter twenty reminded me of a book called “Ender’s Game” where Ender 
has to  take the blame for when a group of older kids tried to beat him up, 
Ender had to  take action and took them out with extreme prejudice. He although 
decided to  sacrifice himself to the blame so his trainers would not get into 
  trouble.

Summary of chapters 9-20 
Holes

Stanley has just dug his first hole and thinks it will get easier then his friends at Camp Green Lake tell him it wil just get harder. Stanley was by himself now beginning to write his letter to his  mom. Later his friends called him by the name ‘Caveman’ and Stanley realized his nickname was now ‘Caveman’. Stanley woke up the next day in all aches and pains.  He was now on the lake digging his 2nd Hole. Later that day Stanley  found a fish skeleton while he was digging. Stanley didn’t get the rest of the  day off. X-ray told Stanley if he found anything he must give it to X-ray so he  could get a day off. Stanley was the last one to finish digging that day and  when he got back Mr Pendanski was sitting in a circle with the boys from group D  discussing what they wanted to do with their lives. Stanley dug holes every day  until he couldn’t even figure out what day of the week it was. Stanley saw something glisten as he threw a dirt onto the pile so he climbed out of the hole  a searched through pile of dirt. He found a golden tube with the engraving of KB on it. Stanley didn’t want to give the tube to X-ray because he had such little of his hole to dig.  Stanley decided to give it to x-ray and told him to show the Warden tomorrow. X-ray got the next day of thanks to Stanley. Mr Pendanski was ordered by the Warden to  bring back three wheel barrows after dropping off X-ray at the camp sites. Group D were put into pairs and had to put the dirt into a wheel barrow and sort through it so they don’t miss anything. Stanley got a letter from his mom and all the boys said he must read it to them but he read it to himself later. The next Day while Stanley Was digging the hole with the other six boys Zigzags shovel came across and hit Stanley on his head. Stanley didn’t know if he had been knocked out or not. The next day the boys were back to usual digging their own holes. Zero was watching over Stanley shoulder later that day while he was writing to his family. Zero asked Stanley to teach him how to read and write.  The next day when the water truck had left the boys saw Magnet with a sack of seeds and he called out to the boy “who wants some seeds”. Everyone had some until it came to Stanley somehow all the seeds were all over Stanley’s hole.  Next thing Stanley was in the truck on the way to the Warden. In the Wardens office she sent Stanley to fetch a small flowered case. He slowly walked to fetch it he then gave it to the Warden and she opened it. It was a makeup kit. She painted her nails and the rubbed Stanley’s face until she got to a wound on his ear which caused him to jump back in pain. The Warden Rubbed nail varnish on Mr Sir’s face and he fell on the floor and started rolling around. The Warden  told Stanley to go back to his hole so he did. On the way he stepped on a rattlesnake and it started rattling. Stanley started to run. When he got to the hole his hole seemed as if it had gotten bigger then he looked at everyone and the a Zero and his hole seemed a lot smaller.

Camp Green Lake is a horrible place for naughty boys like Stanley which has no lake but does have rattlesnakes, scorpions and the most dangerous creature on the empty lake the yellow-spotted lizard when bitten you cant do anything but die a slow and painful death. In Camp green lake all the naughty boys do every day is to dig a hole exactly five feet wide and five feet deep they measure it with the spade which is exactly five feet long. Stanley is no naughty boy he is just always in the wrong place in the wrong time. He only went to Camp Green Lake because he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. He was one day just walking under an overpass and random sneakers just feel from the sky and he didn't realize that the sneakers belonged to Clyde Livingston. Someone had robbed a home less shelter but it was not Stanley,he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time but know Stanley was stuck in Camp Green Lake.
